Some of my sketch’s

There was a period when I just sketched, I am in fact, fascinated by drawing. It is probably why I like using coloured pencils.

 

This is a drawing of a vase and the back of an armchair in the Hotel Roma. I thought that this was a nice subject, a huge vase behind the soft velvet of the armchair.

This was a scene near Citta Sant’Angello, near to Pescara on the east coast of Italy. This was a view from farmland looking back towards Citta Sant’Angello which is built on a hill.

This was a quick sketch of the square at St Peters Basilica in Rome. This was just a 5 minute sketch as we were queuing to get into the Vatican.

Dog Drawings

I use a lot of photographs when I am drawing, so that I can get the feel of the dog him / herself.

This is a drawing, made with coloured pencil, of Angus, a Boxer. A very friendly dog, who dotes on his owner, and who has a bark like a grumpy old man. He knows me very well as when I copy his bark he comes to me wagging the stump of his tail. He is lovely. 

Another friend had this other dog called Alfie, a Rottweiler.

He was also a lovely dog, obedient and strongly looked after his family. I had a problem with bloom from the coloured pencils on this drawing, but a quick look through the internet found that if I used some tissue I could cut the bloom effect down. Another measure is to use charcoal or pencil fixative.

Now these two dogs are owned by my sister-in-law’s daughter and partner.

Boyce and Bella are two very frisky and disobedient Staffordshire Terriers. They were looking into the camera from above, whilst I was holding the camera in one hand and some food in the other. They are very basically drawn but the image is quite effective.

Welcome to my Artspace.

I hope to gove you an idea of my art through pictures that I have previously painted and new art as it has been formed.

I like drawing most ‘forms’ but flowers and cats are my recent likes with coloured pencil, although I have designs to paint a large canvas in oils later this year.

I must worn you that I am a little slow in updating blog pages as I also design websites and love computers, so all in all I have rather a full programme.

Charlie the Cat

Welcome to my art blog. I am going to try and organise my time and talents to bring you my drawings and paintings that I have done and are going to do.

I enjoy most art but recently I have been attracted to colour pencil drawings. You can see one of my cats below:

The client loved both these protraits of Charlie. They said that the drawings captured him and his actions perfectly.
